Brain Teaser for iPod Touch / iPhone Reviewed

Brain Teaser Over ten thousand games are currently available for the iPhone and iPod Touch platform. This is an astonishing number for any system out there an even more so when you put in to considering the number of free games currently being offered. Brain Teaser is a very simple app and at first appears to be one of those programs that JavaScript students start their careers out creating. It is remarkably simple and in that very point comes its charm.

The objective is very simple. Your job is to change all of the yellow squares to orange squares by tapping on various spaces which flips the selected square over to change it from yellow to orange while doing the same to adjoining pieces. The trick is to set it up so that you’re able to solve the puzzle without further complicating it by losing track of your strategy amidst the scrambled colors.

As you advance in levels the amount of pieces grows and the solution becomes more difficult to determine. Eight moves is all it takes in the first round while the second round takes quite a few more and so on. This game presents a very fair challenge that is as straitforward as one can expect from a mobile application.

Sound is where I have a big problem in that I couldn’t get any to play. This means either sound has been completely omitted from this game or it is not working properly in this release. It isn’t entirely missed, but a little audible feedback goes a long way for many player’s tastes.

Overall, this is a solid puzzle game and a good example of a fun free app for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Brain Teaser was created by Uwe Meier who has a long list of iPod and iPhone apps on his site linked here.
